THE Highland castle once owned by disgraced former Rangers owner Craig Whyte has been bought by a Russian tycoon for £1 million.

Property records from the Land Registry show the 16th-century A-listed Castle Grant, in Morayshire, was snapped up last month by Moscow-based businessman Sergey Fedotov.

Little is known about Mr Fedotov's business empire but he is said to be planning a significant refurbishment of the castle, which fell into disrepair during Whyte's time there.

The sale of Castle Grant, on the outskirts of Grantown-on-Spey, came after it was repossessed from Whyte by the Bank of Scotland last year.

Mr Fedotov declined to comment.
