A SCOT has been killed during a robbery at a bar in Brazil, according to reports.

The man, named locally as Jason Richard Stevens, was understood to be working in the city of Sao Paulo as a translator.

Mr Stevens attempted to speak to one of the two robbers who then shot him, local media reported.

The two assailants are then believed to have fled the scene in a getaway vehicle driven by a third man.

Mr Stevens was taken to hospital but died of his injuries. No one has been arrested over yesterday's incident.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We can confirm the death of a British national on October 22 in Brazil. We have offered consular assistance to the family at this difficult time."
