SCOTRAIL bosses had to step in to help one of the star artists of Celtic Connections after his flight from London to Glasgow was cancelled due to snowy weather.

Festival favourite Carlos Nunez and his band feared their performance at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall last night would have to be cancelled until the train firm managed to secure them a spot on the sleeper at the last minute.

The celebrated Galician piper arrived in Glasgow at 7am – in plenty of time for his rehearsal and sound check before the 7.30pm concert.

A spokesman for ScotRail – transport partner for Celtic Connections – said the journey was provided free.
