A SCOTTISH hotel has been named the UK's most luxurious.
The Chester Residence in Edinburgh has been crowned the top Luxury Hotel and was also named seventh in Europe in the category by TripAdvisor in its Travellers' Choice awards.
The hotel in Rothesay Place also comes 16th in the UK Small Hotels category and 21st in the UK for Best Service.
Comprising 23 luxury Georgian townhouse apartments located in the West End, it has now won 17 industry awards in total since opening in 2006.
Scotland received accolades for 14 winning properties this year across eight categories with Pitlochry, Perthshire, home to more winners than any other Scottish destination.
Graham Wood, owner of The Chester Residence, said he and his staff were delighted by the award.
He said: "It's always great to receive feedback and winning these coveted awards is the highest compliment.
"Our team works exceptionally hard to ensure each guest's stay is as luxurious and enjoyable as possible.
"It's an incredible achievement and I'd like to thank all of our team for their dedication and the excellent service they provide."
Pitlochry's Fonab Castle Hotel took third place in the UK Luxury category and 11th in Europe.
In the Romance section, nearby Fonab Castle Hotel is named seventh best in the UK and 22nd in Europe, while another neighbour, Knockendarroch House Hotel took 11th place in the Romance list.
Also honoured in the district for Best Service is Atholl Villa, placing ninth in the UK and 15th in Europe, while the Green Park Hotel was placed 21st among the UK's Top Hotels.
James Kay, of TripAdvisor, said: "These awards recognise the finest hotels across the globe, according to those that really matter - the guests themselves.
"This year is particularly good news for the UK hotel industry, with the UK home to more of the world's best rated properties than any other country."
Now in their 13th year, the awards honour the world's most outstanding properties in the categories of Top Hotels, Bargain, B&Bs and Inns, Family, Luxury, Romance, and Small Hotels.
Travellers' Choice award winners were determined based on the millions of reviews and opinions collected in a single year from TripAdvisor travellers worldwide.
They take into account the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and opinions and traveller ratings specific to each award category.
The organisers said hallmarks of Travellers' Choice winners include remarkable service, quality and value.
