Scottish meat is in demand

SHOPPERS want more Scottish red meat to be sold in supermarkets.

More than 93% of those polled in the Scotland Food and Drink survey said major supermarkets should stock Scottish red meat and almost 55% said they would pay up to 10% more for it.

James Withers, chief of Scotland Food and Drink, wants to increase sales of Scots produce by £1 billion in the next three years.

He said: "The level of support amongst the Scottish public for the country's food and drink reflects a growing national pride in what we're producing. These survey figures are a sign of an ongoing revolution in our food and drink industry."
