A SECOND man has been charged with the murder of soldier Lee Rigby.

Michael Adebolajo, who was shot by police following the attack outside a Woolwich army barracks on May 22, was discharged from hospital on Friday and taken into custody.

Scotland Yard confirmed yesterday that the 28-year-old has been charged with the murder of Drummer Rigby as well as the attempted murder of two police officers and possession of a firearm.

Meanwhile, two men aged 42 and 46 arrested on suspicion of being involved in the illegal supply of guns in connection with the murder of the soldier have been released on bail pending further inquiries. It came as the soldier's family urged the public not to "use his name as an excuse to carry out attacks". Members of Drummer Rigby's family appealed to people to "keep calm and show their respect in a peaceful manner".

Also yesterday, 58 people were arrested for public order offences in London after Unite Against Facism mounted a counter protest to a BNP demonstration at Westminster.

Police Scotland said two people had been arrested in Edinburgh after protests by the Scottish Defence League and anti-racism campaigners.

A 25-year-old man will appear at Inverness Sheriff Court tomorrow charged in connection with an alleged hate crime on a Facebook memorial page for Drummer Rigby.
