Scots pop star Lulu gave chase to a thief after he snatched her bank card at an ATM.

The singer was taking money out at a NatWest branch in Kensington in London when she was approached by a man who told her the machine was broken. After telling her she needed to go into the bank, he grabbed Lulu's card and ran away.

An onlooker said the pop star was stunned for a moment, before running after the man. The onlooker said: "She ran after him shouting 'My card, that man's got my card'."

The thief escaped by jumping into a car and driving off the wrong way down a one-way street. Lulu, 64, who was brought up in Glasgow, had been visiting the cashpoint on the corner of Kensington High Street after shopping at the American chain Whole Foods.

After the thief escaped in the car, Lulu called the police who were on the scene within minutes.

The Metropolitan Police said they were investigating but that no arrest had been made. Lulu's spokesman refused to comment.
