Special knight: Morrissey to play US shows with Sir Tom Jones and Sir Cliff Richard

Controversial singer Morrissey has lined up two veteran pop knights - Sir Cliff Richard and Sir Tom Jones - for a pair of US concerts.

The former Smiths frontman announced that Sir Cliff would be his "special guest" at a concert in New York in June, with a performance with Sir Tom in Los Angeles the month before.

American keyboard player Kristeen Young, who is reportedly best known for her "aggressive, dissonant" playing style, will also perform at both dates.

It is not the first time Morrissey has teamed up with a 1960s chart star - in 1984 The Smiths duetted with Sandie Shaw on a new version of their debut single Hand In Glove which made the top 30.

The two concerts are part of a US-wide tour announced by the singer.
