A YOUNG man suffered serious injuries when he was stabbed as he tackled four men who attacked his neighbour's home.

The victim was targeted when he remonstrated with the gang after they smashed a window of a property in Oaktree Gardens in Castlemilk in Glasgow on Saturday.

The 22-year-old victim was chased by two of the men before being attacked following the incident at around 2am.

Police said the injured man's 54-year-old neighbour, whose home was damaged, was also remonstrating with the four before his neighbour became involved.

The stabbing victim was taken to the Glasgow Victoria Infirmary for treatment, where he was in a stable condition.

The 54-year-old suffered minor injuries in the incident and was released after hospital treatment.

The men being sought over the stabbing are aged between 20 and 30.

One is described as white, with blond hair.

He was around 5ft 9in and wore a short, thin, black bomber-jacket and carried a piece of wood.

His accomplice is also white and of medium build, with dark brown hair.

He was carrying a large bladed weapon.

Detective Constable Marc Kelly of Cathcart CID said: "This was a particularly nasty attack on a young man who was simply enjoying an evening within his own home.

"It appears a group of men turned up and smashed his neighbour's windows in the early hours of the morning.

"When he intervened in the disturbance he received very serious injuries.
