A TEENAGER has appeared in court charged in connection with a road crash that left three school friends dead.

Jenna Barbour, 18, Josh James-Stewart, 16, and 15-year-old David Armstrong were killed when the car they were travelling in hit a wall in Tyninghame, East Lothian, on November 25.

The sole survivor of the collision, 16-year-old Robbie Gemmell, was charged with road traffic offences when he appeared at Haddington Sheriff Court yesterday.

Gemmell, of Dunbar, was charged under sections 3ZB and 2B of the Road Traffic Act, the Crown Office confirmed. He was also charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

The teenager made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.

He was released on bail and the date of his next court appearance has not yet been confirmed.
