Duff and Phelps

DUFF and Phelps is an American financial advice and investment banking firm based in New York. The company employs more than 1500 people and has offices around the world including in Tokyo, Amsterdam and Paris.

In October last year it took over UK insolvency specialist MCR for an undisclosed sum.

It has handled a number of high profile administrations in recent years including fashion company Ethel Austin and it sister operation Au Natural plus the Borders book chain.

Paul Clark

Paul Clark is a specialist in corporate recovery and restructuring who has worked in the industry since 1981.

The chartered accountant, a partner with Duff and Phelps, is a licensed administrator who has been involved in many successful turnarounds.

In early 2007, he became one of the few practitioners to re-open a business already closed down by its management prior to his involvement. He is also one of a small band of administrators to hand companies back to management following a formal insolvency procedure.

David Whitehouse

David Whitehouse has more than 20 years experience in the corporate restructuring and recovery market.

Previously a partner in two leading national firms, Mr Whitehouse joined Duff and Phelps – previously MCR – in 2007 to set up an office in Manchester.

He is now a partner in the firm and regularly acts for the management of distressed businesses when a solutions-based approach is required for particular difficulties.

He has also provided creditor advisory services to a broad range of financial institutions.
