An 11-year-old world champion mini stock car driver has been seriously injured in a crash.

Keir Millar, from Lockerbie, was injured in a race at Lochgelly Raceway in Fife on Saturday.

He was taken to hospital in Edinburgh and Police Scotland said he is in a serious condition. A race at Lochgelly later this week has been cancelled.

The youngster took part in the Ministox racing series and last year won the Ninja Kart Championship in England.

Reports over the weekend from the race organisers said that the 11-year-old died in hospital but Police Scotland clarified the position today, saying he remains in a "serious condition".
