Davie Moir, 64, died at the scene of the incident on the unclassified Cuminestown to Fyvie road in Aberdeenshire on Sunday afternoon. The lorry driver was uninjured in the crash. The collision happened on the road near South Teuchar Farm where Mr Moir had lived and worked for much of his life.

In a statement released through police, his family said: "Davie was a loving partner to Ingrid and a much-loved father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was very much a family man and was well-known in the community.

"His passion was farming and he had lived and worked on the farm at South Teuchar nearly all his life. When he had a rare break he enjoyed trips to Orkney.

"He loved the local area, spending time outdoors, spending time with his family and working on the farm. When he wasn't working he was a very keen bridge player and a popular member at local gatherings.

"He will be greatly missed by all who knew him."

Police Scotland officers want to speak to any witnesses particularly a tractor driver who may have stopped at the scene to help.
