Two teenagers have been flown to hospital after getting into difficulty in water.

A lifeboat crew was called to the scene off Craigewan beach, at the mouth of the River Ugie off Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, at around 12:45pm today.

The boys had managed to swim ashore just as the RNLI Peterhead lifeboat arrived.

They were helped by the Coastguard and paramedics before both being flown to hospital in Aberdeen for treatment.
