Two hurt as van crashes into house

TWO men were taken to hospital after the van they were travelling in crashed into a house.

One man had to be cut free from the van following the crash on Lanark Road in Crossford, South Lanarkshire, shortly before 6pm yesterday.

The second man had managed to get out and was treated by paramedics while fire and rescue crews worked to free his companion. No-one was in the house at the time of the crash.

Fire crews from Lanark and Carluke community fire stations attended along with a heavy rescue vehicle from Easterhouse in Glasgow.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to rescue the motorist, working side-by-side with paramedics while police officers closed the road to ensure the safety of everyone at the scene.

The men were take to Wishaw General Hospital by ambulance.
