Two men have died in separate crashes on Scotland's roads this weekend.

A 24-year-old man was killed in a collision between a Hyundai car and a Subaru Impreza in Edinburgh's Old Dalkeith Road at about 11.10pm on Friday.

The driver of the Hyundai was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but was pronounced dead in hospital.

Two other men who were in the same vehicle were also taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries.

A second man was killed in an accident in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, at about 2.30am today.

The 38-year-old was driving a Nissan Qashqai on Stroud Road when the car left the carriageway and collided with trees at the side of the road. He died at the scene.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the two crashes.
