THE UK is facing an autumn of anger after union leaders called for mass strikes to eclipse last November's walk-out by more than one million workers.

The Trades Union Congress conference in Brighton heard that staff throughout the country are at breaking point over pay freezes, job losses and other cuts.

Union bosses said only large-scale co-ordinated industrial action could exert the pressure needed on the Coalition Government.

Mark Serwotka, leader of the Public and Commercial Services union, said his members were preparing for strikes this autumn and called on unions to make the most of anti-cuts protests planned for October.
