artist Jack Vettriano will attend Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow, for a rare "in conversation" event at the end of the month.

Mr Vettriano, whose retrospective at the gallery has attracted more than 90,000 visitors, is holding the event in support of the Maggie's cancer charity on January 29.

The night, which is ticketed and will be limited to 120 people, will include a private view of the exhibition, which is to close on February 23.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum is asking fans to post their questions to Mr Vettriano on the Kelvingrove Facebook page.

A selection of these questions will be posed to the artist during the event by Phil Miller, Arts Correspondent for The Herald.

Mr Vettriano will do a book-signing session immediately after the event.

Tickets are £15 and they are available from the gallery's shop or online from www.heartbreakpublishing.com.

Mr Vettriano said: "I am looking forward to being back at the exhibition and am intrigued as to what I may be asked.

"I also hope to raise extra funds for Maggie's - a charity that continues to amaze me with its work."

Councillor Archie Graham, chairman of Glasgow Life, which runs the city's museums and galleries, said; "The response to the Jack Vettriano retrospective has been outstanding.

"Some 90,000 people have already enjoyed this wonderful exhibition and we know many more of his fans will head to the museum in the final four weeks of its run."

More than 100 paintings, many from private collections, feature in the exhibition.
