What's occurring? Nessa impersonator wows Tom Jones on The Voice

The Voice meets Gavin And Stacey tonight when a professional Nessa impersonator tries to impress the coaches on the singing show.

 BBC/PA Wire

Tara Lewis puts on her Ruth Jones impression when she performs for the judges and immediately impresses countryman Sir Tom Jones.

The 43-year-old mother-of-one, from Tonyrefail in South Wales, regularly appears as the comedy character played by Jones in the hit show, but has also been singing for years.

She said: "Once I dress up as Nessa I get a great reaction and I can get away with anything. The Nessa isn't gonna last forever. My dream would be to be taken seriously for my singing."

Sir Tom, who tells her she "did everything right" with her performance, is also impressed with another of the acts who moves him to tears with her voice.

He tells 54-year-old Sally Barker: "You swept me off my feet or off my chair, whichever way I'm going to put it you have the most beautiful voice that's been on this show so far."

Other acts out to impress the new line-up - which also includes Will.i.am, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson and Kylie Minogue - include Scottish teenager Anna McLuckie who performed Daft Punk's Get Lucky on the harp.

Also auditioning was Leo Ihenacho who first got a taste of fame singing with The Streets.

:: The first episode of the new series is on BBC One at 7pm tonight.
