A march calling for action on climate change is being planned for Edinburgh next month.

The event is expected to bring people from across Scotland together ahead of world leaders attending the United Nations climate summit in Paris.

It will be one of many being held in cities around the world over two days.

Those behind the march on November 28 are demanding an agreement that cuts greenhouse gas emissions and helps the poorest countries adapt to the challenges they face caused by climate change.

Organisers Stop Climate Chaos Scotland (SCCS) said the event will include music, entertainment and speeches at the Ross bandstand in the city's Princes Street Gardens.

Speaking as details of the march were announced, Andrew Burns, leader of Edinburgh City Council, said: "This is a chance for individuals to ask the world leaders gathering in Paris to follow Scotland's strong commitment to climate action and to reach an ambitious global deal to address this problem."

SCCS chairman Tom Ballantine added: "By joining Scotland's climate march, Scots can unite with citizens around the world in calling on world leaders to avert dangerous climate change.
