Smack bang in the middle of the East End of Glasgow, a trip to The Barras was part of every Glaswegian's childhood.

The Barras was founded by James and Margaret McIver in the interwar years and several of the smaller 1921-era market halls still bear the McIver name.

The ballroom has become a world-famous musical venue, with many famous musicians like Beastie Boys, Beautiful South and Shakespeare's Sister performing in the venue over the years.
