Police have named the motorcyclist who died following a collision on the A82 road along the side of Loch Ness on Saturday, as Gordon Keith Blair, 73, from Staffordshire.

The collision was at Borlum Farm, Lewiston, between Drumnadrochit and Urquhart Castle at 4:15pm. It involved three vehicles. Mr Blair's BMW motorbike, a grey Audi A5 and a blue Honda Civic. No other parties sustained any serious injuries.

Paramedics and an air ambulance attended the scene, but Mr Blair died as a result of his injuries.

The accident closed the road, the main route between Inverness and Fort William, for hours with traffic having to face a long diversion through Spean Bridge.

POlice Scotland said "The family of Mr Blair are understandably devastated by their loss; they will not be issuing a statement at this time and have requested that their privacy be respected."
