THE Scottish Government has been urged to lead by example in its drive towards greener transport after figures showed just 2% of the vehicles in its fleet are electric.

The call was made by the Scottish LibDems' transport spokesman Tavish Scott.

It was revealed by Finance Secretary John Swinney who said the Government has four electric vehicles, 2% of the total, and 22 hybrid vehicles, equating to 10% of the fleet.

A Scottish Government spokesman said: "The Scottish Government has invested £8 million in low carbon vehicles and charging infrastructure since 2010."
