AN investigation into a range of allegations about senior staff and former employees at a troubled publicly-owned bus firm has found no evidence of impropriety.

The Lothian Buses probe into allegations made in an anonymous letter came after a year of boardroom strife at the Edinburgh City Council-owned company.

The internal inquiry was set up to establish whether any further investigation into the claims was required.

A spokesman for Lothian Buses said: "A Lothian Buses internal inquiry into this anonymous letter found no evidence of impropriety based on the information available."

The bus firm has had an overhaul of the directors team after a boardroom struggle that led to senior figures agreeing handshake packages.

A recruitment process is under way for non-executive director positions on the Transport for Edinburgh, Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams boards.

The transport group is also recruiting a non-executive chair for Lothian Buses and a separate non-executive chair for Edinburgh Trams.
