ISLAMIC additions to Egypt's constitution would be scrapped under changes proposed by Egypt's army-backed rulers.

The proposals would end additions to the constitution forced through under deposed Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Mursi and revive a voting system from predecessor Hosni Mubarak.

Islamists and liberals voiced alarm about the proposals made by a constitutional committee set up by the generals who removed Mursi on July 3. The army has suspended the constitution adopted under Mursi late last year.
