Microsoft and Sony have been working to restore internet platforms for their Xbox and PlayStation games consoles.
Hacking attacks by a group calling itself Lizard Squad disabled the online services on Christmas Day and Sony's PlayStation network remained down for a third day yesterday in a blow that hit eager online gamers who had unwrapped their new consoles on Christmas morning. Microsoft's Xbox Live service was back online yesterday, although the company reported problems with some functions later.
