WE mentioned the Kelvin Hall Circus yesterday and now we linger at the Glasgow Green Fair which took place in July, although you wouldn't know it was a summer event judging by how wrapped up against the elements these two young women were in July, 1952. It was pelting down apparently, which is typical at the start of the Glasgow Fair Fortnight, and as the Evening Times of the day put it when describing the Glasgow Green event: "A goodly crowd braved the elements to make whoopee in determined fashion." Making whoopee - there's a phrase little used these days.

Good to see how smartly dressed the young women were although they seem to be in two minds about much they are enjoying being hurtled around at high speed. The only thing missing is a young man nonchalantly leaning against the ride taking their money.
