Who speaks for the children?
THE plight of unaccompanied refugee children (“ PM mocked for saying child refugees in Europe are safe”, The Herald, April 28) is a scandal. Surely the test of any civilised society is how we treat children, particularly the most vulnerable. The UK Government and our EU partners should hang their heads in shame as thousands of children sleep rough on the streets of affluent continental Europe. Surely to goodness this is unacceptable and shames us all. Who will speak up for the children?

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
