Glasgow so quiet on 20mph limit
IT is wonderful news that Edinburgh is not only introducing a 20mph speed limit in the city centre on Sunday, but is publicising both it and the penalties for non-compliance (“ Motorists face hefty fines as 20mph speed limits launched in Edinburgh”, The Herald, July 28). Readers might not be aware that Glasgow City Council introduced a similar speed limit in Glasgow city centre in March this year.
Unusually for Glasgow, which likes to be that one step ahead of Edinburgh at all times, this was done without any razzmatazz or fanfare, just a few road signs. Not surprising then, that few motorists appear to have changed their driving habits.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
