I HOPE that Ruth Davidson thanked profusely all those who made it possible for her to win the Scottish Politician of the Year award (The Herald, October 28) .
Please take a bow, the Scottish Labour Party who, by dint of their exceptionally dismal leadership and all-round abject performance at Scottish elections, have allowed the moribund Ruth Davidson Party to ooze its way into second place at Holyrood. Their target for the next election is to boost the Willie Rennie Killer Clown Party into third place.
Just as John Major and Theresa May ascended to the top job because they happened to be standing in the right place at the right time, David Mundell happens to be the Scottish Secretary because there is no other Tory left in Scotland.
Poor old David must have felt like a puppy with two tails yesterday morning. Not only was he considered the Best Scot at Westminster in the Herald’s awards, but he was also slapped down by No 10 for his comments over the EU Single Market. What an honour! This is the first time that No 10 has acknowledged his existence since the General Election, so he must be doing something right.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
