THE drinks company Diageo has not been without its critics because of the closure of some of its plants. It is however, to be commended for providing further support to the victims and families of Thalidomide (“Diageo boosts cash for victims of Thalidomide”, The Herald, December 8). Many of those who suffered birth defects have survived longer than was at first anticipated and they and their families have demonstrated great courage in adapting to the severe handicaps dating back to the 1960s. It is to the credit of Diageo that it has continued to provide support to those affected.
