DID it not strike Brexit Secretary David Davies that if, as he thought, Brexit would bring a “paradigm change” for the UK, it was of the first importance that an attempt should be made to have some idea of the possible outcomes for particular sectors of the economy (“Davis faces calls to go as he admits no Brexit papers exist”, The Herald, December 7)?
Instead, he throws up his hands and cries it would be no use trying to do anything: the future is too unpredictable. Passing over his dishonesty telling Parliament and the public that sectoral studies were under way, his cavalier attitude to settle for maximum ignorance on matters of such importance surely disqualifies him from further occupancy of the post he holds.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
