I READ with interest the letter (May 30) from Allan C Steele.

Having travelled with the company in question (RSD Travel UK) on two previous occasions, my wife and I can assure Mr Steele that the offer of "a heavily discounted holiday in Crete" is not a scam.

We undertook a cultural tour of Cappadocia in Turkey in October 2016 and a tour of Morocco in November 2017 with this company and found both tours to be excellent value and very interesting.

The company is an offshoot of a German company which has an unusual business model – offering tours to countries in low season (the autumn and winter months) when hotels and so on would otherwise be underutilised.

In fact, my wife and I have booked on the tour to Crete to which Mr Steele refers. We have no connection to RSD Travel, other than as satisfied customers.
