REGARDING the controversy over squirrels, red and grey, here on the Cowal peninsula we have no greys but can add a couple of quite exotic shades to the usual fur-coat ensembles
As the Cowal woods and forests are, I believe, red-only habitats, I presume the near-blacks and punky-hairstyle blondes on Loch Eckside are simply naturally occurring shade variations from the local gene pool at either end.
In every other respect they resemble the dominant reds but exhibit an unexpected comical touch of cartoon diversity with their wardrobes.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
