Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy, Thu, 7.30pm; Fri, 7pm (£14 including wine, not for children); Sat, 2pm & 7.30pm, £8.50-£12.50, 01592 583302

The Good Ship Pantomime is about to sail away from its Kirkcaldy moorings, but there's still time to catch this hilarious and inventive take on an old tale - yes, me hearties, the beanstalk does shiver the timbers and scuttle the dastardly schemes of piratical Cap'n Fleshcreep - but fear not, none of the comedy or fast-moving adventure gets lost at sea. You can also raise a glass to panto at the Friday Party Night with its "nae weans" house rule that lets the grown-ups be kids again.
