A new hotel chain is poised to enter the market in Glasgow with plans for a £30m four-star development in the Merchant City.

Images of the hotel, proposed for a gap site close to the City Halls, have been released showing a six-storey building which will provide another 200 rooms for the city's growing hotel sector.

James Montgomery, managing director of Montgomery Property, the company behind the plan, said the minimalist hotel would fit in perfectly with the Merchant City. He said: "The great thing about the Merchant City is it has a wonderful Bohemian feel because of the mix of operators there."
