Scotland's newest MSP has been sworn in at Holyrood.

Conservative Michelle Ballantyne takes over from party colleague Rachael Hamilton, who resigned earlier this month to stand for a constituency seat.

Ms Hamilton was elected in 2016 as a list MSP for the South Scotland region but stood down to fight the Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire by-election in the Borders.

The seat was been vacated by Tory colleague John Lamont, who resigned to contest the Westminster Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk constituency in the General Election on June 8.

Selkirkshire councillor Ms Ballantyne was next in line for Ms Hamilton's list seat at Holyrood.

She took the oath of allegiance in the chamber on Tuesday.
