BBC chiefs are to appear before a Holyrood committee today to be quizzed about their plans for broadcasting in Scotland.

Director general Mark Thompson, BBC Scotland director Ken MacQuarrie and chief operating officer Bruce Malcolm will be asked about funding for news and current affairs compared to London and other regions, and job cuts.

The broadcaster has announced 120 job cuts as part of its strategy to save around £16 million in BBC Scotland's annual budget by 2017. First Minister Alex Salmond has urged the Corporation to reconsider the "damaging" cuts.

Glasgow MSP Sandra White claimed the strategy was "seriously flawed" and there was a need to look at the role of BBC Scotland.
