THE political controversy over The Iron Lady, the film about Margaret Thatcher which shows her suffering from dementia in old age, intensified yesterday when David Cameron suggested it should not have been made until after her death.

The Prime Minister was full of praise for the acting of Meryl Streep, the Hollywood actress who portrays his predecessor, but was critical of the film being made while Baroness Thatcher is still alive.

"You just can't help wondering, why do we have to have this film right now?" he asked. "I wish they could have made another day."
