SCOTS Tory leader Ruth Davidson is to admit that her party's hostility to devolution is why it is seen as a "brake on the aspirations" of Scots.

In a speech in Edinburgh, she will admit her party's demise was "because Scotland was setting out on a journey without the Scottish Conservative Party on board".

She will say: "We need to admit that the Scottish public did get our message, that they heard us very clearly, and in too many cases simply didn't like what they were hearing, or what we were offering.

"Support for the Scottish Conservatives didn't drop dramatically because thousands of Scots abruptly ceased to share our values.

"It happened because Scotland set out on a journey without the Scottish Conservative Party on board."
