Euan Burton, the World and European Championship bronze medallist from Edinburgh, has decided to take a year out of international competition but has not ruled out returning for Glasgow 2014.

Burton, who lost out in the first round of the London Olympics to the Canadian Antoine Valois-Fortier who went on to win bronze, is now coaching full-time. The 33-year-old did not compete at the British Championships in Sheffield earlier this month but stressed that he had not retired.

"I am still considering the potential of fighting for Scotland in 2014 but, as I am now coaching full-time, I decided not to fight the GB Championships this year – just as well because I had about 20 athletes to coach on the day," he said. "Therefore, I have taken myself out of contention/consideration for GB selections for this year."
