Rangers have reportedly held talks with Romania internationalist Gabriel Tamas over a prospective move for the defender in the summer.

The Ibrox club are seeking ways to lower costs under new chief executive Graham Wallace but, according to reports in Romania, the club have discussed a deal with Tomas which would bring him in for the SPFL Championship campaign.

The 30-year-old has just signed a six-month contract with Doncaster Rovers. His career has not been without its more colourful moments, though, with Tamas having been banned by a former club and his national team after alcohol-related incidents.
