JAMAICA named their athletics team for the Commonwealth Games last night and confirmed the fears of fans who hold tickets for the 100 and 200 metres events.
Usain Bolt, world record-holder and double Olympic champion in both sprints, will only participate in the 4x100m relay after expressing a wish not to take the place of any compatriot who qualified on merit at the recent Jamaican trials.
Bolt will now attempt to win gold for his country on the final weekend of the Games alongside Nickel Ashmeade, Kemar Bailey-Cole, Julian Forte and Kimmari Roach. None of those runners were part of the world record-setting team at London 2012, anchored by Bolt.
