CLYDE could be banned from playing any of their January signings after admitting they failed to pay over £3000 to HMRC.

The Cumbernauld club have breached SPFL rule E29 after an oversight saw November’s payment of £3,320.20 to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs missed.

Under the guidelines, any side found to have contravened the above could be halted from fielding any squad member signed following the breach unless it is approved by an SPFL board.

During the window Clyde signed striker John Gemmell from Albion Rovers, former Livingston midfielder and Annan Athletic forward Jamie Watson as well as defender Scott McMann on loan from Hamilton Accies.

A statement for the Ladbrokes League Two club said: “The club has inadvertently breached rule E29 of the SPFL by missing a November HMRC payment of £3,320.20.

“In the event of a breach of rule E29, clubs are precluded from fielding players registered after the breach unless subsequently approved by the board of the SPFL.

“The club is in communication with the SPFL whose Board will consider this matter at its meeting in the coming week.

“The club is fully up to date with all HMRC liabilities.”

An SPFL statement added: “The SPFL Board is aware of this matter which will be discussed when it meets later this week.”
