“I’ll definitely do my best to repeat that. [Nikica] was delighted for me, he congratulated me. He said I’m sure I’m going to enjoy it and do well.

“I knew (about the Rangers fans) growing up, even back home you watch the Old Firm on TV, I knew a lot about the support that Rangers has as a football club.

Kranjcar made 154 Premier League appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers and Portsmouth and was asked if he thinks his experience of English football will help him to adapt.

“I really hope so, I think the style of play is going to be similar," he said.

“I do think that Rangers is going to be a team that is mostly going to dominate possession.

“We’re here to fight Celtic and win the league, and it has to be that way.”
