DE VRIES (5) Was badly exposed and helpless for Lionel Messi’s two early strikes. Produced great save on 35 minutes to deny Neymar a game-clinching third. Looked slow to react when it eventually came from Neymar’s free-kick, but no chance as the floodgates opened after the break.
GAMBOA (4) The phrase ‘baptism of fire’ was created for occasions such as this. Making his Celtic debut, the Costa Rican had the unenviable task of stifling Neymar and the rampaging Jordi Alba. Was caught square on for Barca second and was sleeping for their seventh.
LUSTIG (4) Playing as a makeshift centre-half, didn’t follow Neymar for crucial second goal and was at sea when Suarez pounced for seventh. TOURE (5) Looked as solid as you can at centre-half when you lose seven goals. Keen to get on the ball and take responsibility.

SVIATCHENKO (5) The Dane has shown this season just how strong he can be. Not here, though.
TIERNEY (6) A mature performance from the 19-year-old. Was a ball boy when Celtic beat Barcelona in 2012, this was the stuff of dreams for the young left-back. Well, apart from the score, obviously.
ROBERTS (5) Looked lively and aggressive when in possession, just didn’t happen that often.
BITTON (4) A quiet night for the Israeli. Switched off in the opening seconds and allowed Messi to burst into space for the opener. Was similarly at fault for the second by not tracking the Argentinian’s run from deep.
BROWN (5) The Celtic captain and Bitton struggled to get to grips with a Barcelona midfield driven by Sergio Busquets in the first half and Andres Iniesta in the second. Did simple things well, but silly push earned him a booking.

SINCLAIR (6) A piece of brilliance on 23 minutes to burst forward and ping a stunning pass for Dembele to win penalty. The liveliest of all Celtic's players.
DEMBELE (4) Was the hero with his hat-trick on Saturday but turned into the villain here. Did so well to earn Celtic a penalty but a stupid short run up and pitiful finish was unsurprisingly saved by Ter Stegen. Hardly touched the ball after that as Barca clicked through the gears.
SUBSTITUTES
ARMSTRONG (4) On for Roberts after 68 minutes. Fresh legs helped steady the ship.
O’CONNELL (3) On for Sviatchenko after 68 minutes. Youngster given chance to sample big atmosphere, lost Suarez for sixth.

McGREGOR (3) On for Bitton after 76 minutes.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
