Partick Thistle hitman Kris Doolan insists he has no concerns over his Ladbrokes Premiership barren run.

The Jags striker has not found the net in the top flight at all this term.

His scoring form has evaporated since his sensational run at the end of last season, when he netted in each of the Firhil side's final five games of the campaign.

The 29-year-old's only strike so far this term was in Thistle's opening Betfred Cup group stage clash with Airdrie way back in July.

That goal was his 90th for Partick but he has made no progress towards reaching his Jags century since.

Doolan, though, is refusing to panic ahead of Saturday's clash with Ross County.

He said: "I never worry about it. I've scored plenty of goals during my career but also had times where I can't score.

"It's just about making those runs and getting yourself in the right positions. If you keep doing that the goals will come.

"I certainly don't feel I've got any more pressure on me because I'm closing in on 100 goals. I don't go out onto the pitch thinking about breaking that barrier.

"I go out looking to win the game and that's it.

"At the end of the season is when you can sit back and take note of the things you've achieved."

Jags boss Alan Archibald was this week linked with a move to English League One outfit Shrewsbury.

The Greenhous Meadow outfit held talks with Jags chiefs but could not strike a compensation deal and Archibald has now insisted the deal is dead.

But Doolan reckons his boss will one day get the chance to prove himself down south.

"From what I've seen of the manager I think he possesses all the qualities you need to be a success in England," he said. "It's because of the success he's had up here that teams are now taking note and coming looking.

"If he does a good job, teams will come in for him and we understand that. That's the way football is but it does show how good a job he's doing.

"He is such a big figure around this club. He's been here a long time. He's an icon here and is a big reason the club is where it is.

"We would love to see him stay and hopefully we can hang onto him.

"He is such a down-to-earth person, he puts his point across very well. He can lose his head if he needs to. He's got that edge which I think you need.

"But most of the time he keeps it under wraps. The bad side only comes if it needs to.

"He's a relaxed guy and we understand that is the correct way to be. To play your best football you need to be thinking clearly and he definitely does that as a manager and helps us players do the same."
