CELTIC

CRAIG GORDON

He’s had busier shifts at the national stadium but was really sharp when called upon. Every cross was take and was quick off his line to make sure nothing happened. His kicking has also improved, although he’s no midfielder. 7

MIKAEL LUSTIG

Took an early thump to the head but didn’t let that affect him. Was a good out-ball in attack and didn’t allow much to get past him. His shot which just about stayed in Mount Florida will be less fondly remembered than his all-round display. 7

ERIK SVIATCHENKO

The Dane is perhaps the most laidback footballer to ever pull on a pair of boots. Aberdeen are hardly Barcelona but when they did threaten he was the one who tended to make sure nothing silly happened. 7

JOZO SIMUNOVIC

Rock solid and had a big say in the first goal when he pushed into attack. To think he was almost off in August, the previously always injured centre-half has re-established himself in the team. When you are back-heeling your way out of trouble then it’s a good day. 7

EMILIO IZAGUIRRE

A popular figure because of what he has done for Celtic and for his professionalism following the breakthrough of Kieran Tierney. The Honduran had a fine match, made some cracking tackles with the result still up for grabs. 8

SCOTT BROWN

The captain is a different player under Brendan Rodgers and different class in this cup final. From his first touch to his last, he gave a master-class on how to boss a game, win tackles and start moves. Even his booking was admirable. Scotland’s Player of the Year by a mile. 9

STUART ARMSTRONG

His passing can let him down but brings so much energy to the team and his attitude is superb. Armstrong is happy to do the unglamorous work and has ability as well. What a turnaround from a year ago. Should have scored near the end. 7

PATRICK ROBERTS

Not as his brilliant best but did nothing wrong. He is tough to stop when running at players and Aberdeen were fearful of him. However, he was quite in matches and perhaps that is down to some rustiness. Subbed. 7

TOM ROGIC

The Australian is an elegant footballer capable of great things, even if he doesn’t run like an athlete. His goal was brilliant, the pass which led the penalty imaginative. Aberdeen didn’t get close to him all day. Subbed. 7

JAMES FORREST

His goal was brilliant, his all-round performance excellent. Forrest is reborn, if still inconsistent, but on this form the winger looks a world beater. His pace won the penalty and was a constant pain. Another to benefit from Rodgers. 9

MOUSSA DEMBELE

Another goal, from the penalty spot, but he was actually pretty well looked after. His physical presence and hold up play does allow other players to get into attack. A great presence even when it isn’t quite his best match. 7

SUBSTITUTES

NIR BITTON

On for Roberts, played some nice passes, made a few mistakes and got himself booked. So a pretty normal performance. 5

CALLUM McGREGOR

Ran about a lot in his late appearance. The game was well won by the time he got on. 5

LEIGH GRIFFITHS

Thrown on with only minutes remaining. 3

ABERDEEN

JOE LEWIS

Made a fine early save to deny Dembele and then watched on helplessly as the ball flew past him twice in the first-half when he hadn’t done anything wrong. The penalty summed up his afternoon. Was blameless. 6

SHAY LOGAN

Pinned back all day and his best feature is getting forward. Kept being dragged about by Forrest who to be honest had him on toast. By the end he seemed to have lost a bit of his soul given how wretched his afternoon got. 5

ASH TAYLOR

A surprise inclusion and always gives off the impression that there is an accident in him. He did okay to an extent but his passing was awful. He kept giving away the ball and that’s not good enough at this level. 5

ANTHONY O’CONNOR

Has his hands full with Dembele and did sort of fine as it happens...right up until he gave away a ridiculous penalty which made it 3-0. It was a stupid challenge and he was immediately subbed. He will not look back on the day with any fondness. 5

ANDREW CONSIDINE

Not his day. Almost scored with a header, but could have done better at both first-half goals when he could have been doing with closing down his man. Roberts got a lot of joy running at him. All in all, a bit of a nightmare. 4

GRAEME SHINNIE

Dominated by Brown in the centre of the park. Shinnie is a player but was made to look like a little boy out there. Nobody could suggest he didn’t give his all but it wasn’t close to being good enough. He will be disappointed in his failure to shine. 5

RYAN JACK

Another who simply couldn’t cope with the Celtic midfield and was left chasing shadows by the end. You can’t blame him for getting lost because he and his team-mates were outclassed. Game passed him by. 5

KENNY MCLEAN

Was one wearing red that showed up a bit. He came onto a bit of a game in the second-half but his day was blighted by losing out on a challenge to Simunovic, he was the favourite, and within a few seconds Celtic had scored their first. 5

JAMES MADDISON

When he got on the ball looked a threat and drew a yellow card for Brown when on the attack. The young Englishman can feel pride in the way he at least looked as if he believed Aberdeen could win the cup. Not many others hinted they believed at all. 6

JONNY HAYES

Another who didn’t see enough of the ball and perhaps that was down to the tactics. A winger with a habit f scoring spectacular goals against Celtic should have been told to go out and express himself. He did little. 4

ADAM ROONEY

Not even a crumb was given to him as he played on his own up-front against two good centre-halves. It was hard not to feel sorry for him as he grew more lonely as the match wore on and he was desperate for even a touch. 4

SUBSTITUTES:

JAYDON STOCKLEY

Was asking a lot for him to make any sort of difference. 4

NIALL MCGINN

The winger, who tends to play well against old club, was introduced at 3-0. He should have started. 4

WES BURNS

He probably wished he hadn’t been thrown on near the end. 3
