BRENDAN RODGERS, the Celtic manager, has strongly hinted that Scott Brown will quit international football again next month.

The 31 year-old came out of retirement last November to feature in Scotland’s 3-0 loss to England and has made himself available for the World Cup qualifier against Slovenia on March 26.

Rodgers, though, suggested his captain may call it a day again thereafter, ruling himself out of the return match against England at Hampden on June 10.

"We've had a number of conversations about it and I think Scott is clear in his mind what he wants to do,” said Rodgers. “He knows my view on [the England game in June] and in terms of the longer term for him.

“He's pivotal to what we are doing here. He’s answering a duty to his country and I can see why any manager would want him. But I think after this game he will probably look at it and see where it's at for a more definite period.”
