Celtic are closely monitoring the £1.75 million-rated FC Utrecht right-back Giovanni Troupee, but face competition from clubs in Germany and England.

The Parkhead club have sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old, who was Utrecht’s youngest ever player when he made his debut for the club three years ago.

But Celtic’s Champions League conquerors Borussia Moenchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt have also been watching the talented youngster, along with Premier League side Bournemouth.

AZ Alkmaar tried to launch an audacious bit for Troupee in the last transfer window, but Utrecht refused to sell to another Dutch club.

Troupee has even been touted for a call-up to the full Netherlands team after an impressive season.

Last month, the defender admitted he would love to test himself on a bigger stage and was “flattered” by the interest in him from top clubs.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to make moves this summer in the transfer market as he attempts to strengthen his squad for the Champions League campaign.
